We’ve all heard them- those auto alarm systems that go off in the street or in a grocery store parking lot, but when it comes time to consider purchasing an auto alarm many people don’t know what to look for.

Some factors to consider when considering car alarm systems might be whether or not the consumer would like their vehicle lights to flash when the alarm is armed or disarmed, if the alarm should sound when a door is opened, what kind of sensors are desired and many other options.

A good salesperson should know about things like glass breakage sensors, shock sensors, fused parking lights and other possible features on car alarm systems.

Back up battery sirens come with some auto alarm systems and are effective for anytime a potential thief gets the automobile hood up and cuts the battery wires. The back up siren often runs for more than an hour and can prevent any further action from a thief.

Other features on car alarm systems can include a hood pin switch that will sound when the hood is lifted, a trunk pin switch to prevent the theft of valuable electronic equipment like sub-woofers, interior proximity sensors that are good for convertibles and jeeps with soft tops and exterior proximity sensors that keep people from getting too close to any vehicle. Some auto alarm systems have keyless entry so that the automobile driver only has to push a button to unlock the doors. Even if a person doesn’t have power locks, actuators can be added to any vehicle to create power locks at additional costs.
