Car detailing is a job that can be done by either a car owner or a professional car detailer depending on the kind of money a car owner want to put into car detailing, how much they know about car detailing and if they want to take the time to do all of the car detailing by himself or herself. Car detailing doesn’t have to be a hard or strenuous job, but it does require some time and a few pieces of essential equipment. Car detailing is an excellent way to keep a car looking newer longer and can improve its resale value when the time comes to purchase a new vehicle.
When a car owner wants to tackle car detailing alone, he or she will need to have some essential car detailing tools on hand. Car detailing can require up to a dozen rags or towels for drying the car, wiping off wax, shining the interior of the car and wiping windows. Soft brushes are important in car detailing in order to protect both the car’s paint and components. Other car detailing necessities include a large washing bucket, spray bottles for glass cleaner and other cleaners, clean cotton wash mitts, a power washer, a wet/dry vac and a vacuum or rug cleaner.
While car detailing is an important part of any car’s exterior and interior appearance, what is under the hood of the car is just as important to pay attention to during car detailing. Engines are cleaned during a professional car detailing and can be difficult to access with bare hands, so a pressure washer can work only if it avoids areas of the engine that should not have contact with that kind of water force. A hose can work as the pressure is quite a bit less and when used in conjunction with a cleaner like a degreaser can work wonders.
Other important parts involved in an excellent car detailing will include a car washing, waxing, vacuuming of the interior, shampooing of the interior, vinyl or leather preserve applied to the interior upholstery if applicable and cleaning the windows until they are free of streaks. If simply reading about doing your own car detailing makes you exhausted, you might want to leave any car detailing on your vehicle up to the professionals.
