More Oil Than The Middle East?

by Administrator on December 5, 2005

I was watching the news here in Utah and they came on with a teaser saying more oil than the Middle East. Aparently there is some experts saying that as many as 2 trillion barrels of oil could be produced from oil shale deposits in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming. Now if your’e like me your saying “what the hell is oil shale” so I looked it up at Wikipedia. Oil shale is a general term applied to a group of fine black to dark brown shales rich enough in bituminous material (called kerogen) to yield petroleum upon distillation.

They are are thinking of building an operation something like the Canadian tar sands here in Utah. My brother in-law lives close to where they are looking to build this processing facility and is very excited about the jobs that it will create.
